What working on a federal installation actually involves
Work at a site like White Sands Missile Range is not the same job as a commercial lot across town. Getting a crew and equipment onto an operating installation means clearing access and security requirements before a truck ever crosses the gate, and every task is scheduled around a site that keeps running while the work happens rather than shutting down for it. At building 1836 that meant a new parking lot poured and striped with spaces and signs set out to spec. Elsewhere on base it meant a 500 by 500 concrete pad built for refuse services, tank crossing vactor truck work, and concrete sidewalks with road and parking lot signs installed to match. For TXDOT, the work was crack seal repair on state roadway, done to a state agency's own standard. Federal and state safety regulation governs the whole job, and nothing gets called finished until it has been inspected and accepted by the agency that ordered it, not just by us.
